super speak and spell questions

hi all just getting into circuit bending, i have a super speak and spell (the blue and orange one) with a rad british accent and i was wanting to bend it, only problem is its got some really weird screws in the back that i can't get out no matter what i try.

does anyone know if theres a way of getting to the circuitry without having to cut through the back? and if not what's the best way of cutting through without damaging the insides?

i assume it has the same fittings as the original speak and spell so i guess any advice on that would be relevant too
